Something some people might find interesting: an old darknetmarket wallet with 5052 bitcoin

In april 2016 this illegal substances market went offline with no trace. Nobody has ever learned the identity of the owners or what happened to them.

I think it’s pretty safe to say whatever happened to them, they have lost access to this wallet. The usual practice back then when a market was exit scamming was to move all the coins to new wallets, which they never did.

It was a pretty large sum of money back then, but now obviously it’s worth over a quarter billion dollars.

Is anyone keeping track of all the lost bitcoins in the wild? How many do you think there is?
